DIY: 7+ Super Clever Pumpkin Carving Hacks

Well it doesn’t have to be that way though. In this wonderful video from BuzzFeed, we learn 7 great hacks to carve a pumpkin without the messy struggle.

8. Keep the pumpkin hydrated with petroleum jelly: Cover intricate, cut surfaces with Vaseline to slow down the dehydration of the pumpkin and prevent it from turning brown and curling up. (via Pinterest)



9. Delay the growth of mold with silica gel packets: Drop a few of these tiny rectangular silica gel pouches into your jack-o’-lantern for a longer-lasting creation. Note: Remember to not place the packets on a lit candle!



10. Cut off the BOTTOM of the pumpkin instead of the top: No more wrestling to get a lit candle down into the bottom of the pumpkin with this awesome trick. (via Happy Hooligans)
